Summary: "Perfect Self-Contained CCTV System"

We experienced a number of thefts in our neighborhood, including our own GPS unit. We decided that it would be good to install a security camera system and selected this package. I had an advantage when setting up the system from my days in the security industry. It was very easy to make all connections and power up the cameras. Adjustments of contrast and brightness were made right in the menus. The pictures we were interested in were perfect. This system uses infrared leds for night vision in black and white. I did notice some "flaring" of the screen when auto headlights rounded our corner, but that can be corrected with camera angle adjustments. All in all, I feel this is a very economical system, since the manufacturer lists it for double the Amazon.com price.

Summary: "noisy fan on monitor"

I have not tried any of the advanced features such as connecting to the internet or installing motion detectors or alarms yet.
One problem I see is that the fan on the monitor/drive is quite loud. It is loud enough that you wouldn't want to keep the monitor in your bedroom. Perhaps the unit is more suited to a business application.
I think the quality of picture delivered from the cameras is decent.

Summary: "surveilance system"

Not a product for the average person. It is way too hard to operate and not enought advantages. I can not set the time on the unit because it tells me to stop the recording first. Well, it is stopped and it still won't change the time. Tech support refuses to answer the phone. Wait time is up to an hour at which time I give up. I can not save the video to anything since the message is it doesn't understand what is connected. I have tried a thumb drive (flash) and a Maxor hard drive. Neither work. I have no hope of getting it to work through the internet since directions are frustrating and incomplete.
I do not recommend this product for anyone.
